FAQ

Resume gap analysis, explained

A resume gap analysis compares your resume against the requirements of a specific job and identifies what stands between you and being a strong candidate: missing skills, experience, credentials, and keywords. AuditMyResume runs one free in about a minute and classifies every gap by how it actually gets closed, whether that's a resume rewrite, on-the-job experience, training, or a credential.

Every gap comes with a specific way to close it, not generic advice. For skill gaps, you get named certifications and courses with rough duration and cost, always including a free option when one exists, from any provider rather than one company's catalog. For experience gaps, you get on-the-job development moves: the stretch assignment to volunteer for, the scope to ask your manager for, the project that proves you can operate at the next level. For credential gaps, you get an honest verdict on whether a degree or certification is actually required or just preferred, including when to skip it. For evidence gaps, you get suggested resume language you can use if it's true of your experience. Everything is then sequenced into a timeline across the next 3, 6, and 12 months, ordered by impact versus effort, so you know exactly what to do first.

Most candidates apply hoping their resume speaks for itself. The report shows you exactly where a recruiter will see a gap between your background and the role, and how to close it before they do. Some of those fixes are immediate, like surfacing experience your resume currently buries so your relevance is obvious in a six second scan. Others give you concrete things to say in interviews and in conversations with your manager: the certification you're pursuing, the project you took on, the scope you've grown. Instead of a generic application, you show up as someone who understands the role and has a plan.

Your resume file never leaves your device. Text is extracted in your browser, and only that text is analyzed. It's deleted after analysis unless you save your report, every report includes a permanent 'Delete my data' option, and we never sell your data.
